If you love heavy music of all types, from; Metal, Hardcore, Punk, Rock, Emo, Grind, Death Metal, Math-core, and more then you should head to the only place that can give you your daily fix of metal news - playthecrowd.com
Heavy metal (often referred to simply as metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and the United States. With roots in blues-rock and psychedelic rock, the bands that created heavy metal developed a thick, massive sound, characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended better guitar solos, and emphatic beats. Allmusic states that “of all rock & roll’s myriad forms, heavy metal is the most extreme in terms of volume, machismo, and theatricality.”
Early heavy metal bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple attracted large audiences, though they were often critically reviled a status common throughout the history of the genre. In the mid-1970s, Judas Priest helped spur the genre’s evolution by discarding much of its blues influence; Motörhead introduced a punk rock sensibility and an increasing emphasis on speed. Bands in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal such as Iron Maiden followed in a similar vein. Before the end of the decade, heavy metal had attracted a worldwide following of fans known as “metalheads” or “headbangers.”
In the mid-1980s, pop-infused glam metal became a major commercial force with groups like Mötley Crüe. Underground scenes produced an array of more extreme, aggressive styles: thrash metal broke into the mainstream with bands such as Metallica who always stay in the news, while other styles like death metal and black metal remain sub-cultural phenomena. Since the mid-1990s, popular styles such as nu-metal, which often incorporates elements of funk and hip hop; and metalcore, which blends extreme metal with hardcore punk, have further expanded the definition of the genre.

Starting A New Business With Little Funding

Posted by samsol in March 3rd 2008

It happens a lot. Someone has a great idea for a business but they don’t have enough money to back the idea up so it falls away and becomes one of those “it would have been great” ideas. It does not have to happen like that. Even with little funding a person can build an eventual empire. A fast business loan can help a person to get started and from there they can build their profit margin and begin to grow in profitability. Credit card factoring can also be a way that a person uses a source outside of their own assets to begin working on their business goals.

With all sorts of business leasing options as well a person who wishes to start a new business with little funding can since they can acquire their equipment without too much monetary strain. Equipment leasing for your business can help you to build from the ground up and eventually become a successful business. Even with limited financing to start off, it is not impossible to turn that great idea into an actual money making machine. With all the leasing and financing options out there it is worth it to try opening the business of your dreams even without huge funding to start off.

Basics And Benefits of Web Conferencing

Posted by samsol in February 25th 2008

Web conferencing is one of the best ways today for your staff and team members to have a meeting. There are many benefits including space issues, productivity, document sharing, and having all of your team members stay informed about important information regarding project updates.

Internet web conferencing allows people to join a meeting sitting at the computer at their desk. By the use of a web browser, a person can log in with a telephone number and a pass code and they can be in a shared online environment that allows everyone to meet and discuss issues. Speakers and microphones are often needed for web conferences unless the people are there just to listen to the message that needs to be relayed.

This means that you don’t have to worry about conference rooms being available and problems with scheduling conflicts. Often times, when you need a conference room the meeting that is currently taking place may take longer than they expected which leaves you and coworkers standing around outside of the conference room waiting for it to be available.

This is wasted time for the people waiting to get into the meeting and other people who work in the area are often distracted by the people. In addition, when employees meet in a conference room for a meeting, they take extra time away from their desk that they normally wouldn’t. Online web conference allows for total productivity because people do not need to leave their desks.

The biggest benefit of conferencing over the Internet is of course saving money in long distance calls and having people all over the world and be able to join together in a meeting.

Web conferencing can typically offer services like translation if you have someone joining the meeting that speaks a language that you and other attendees do not. You can have an operator join in for assistance with troubleshooting issues and they can even provide recording capabilities if you need the call for legal purposes later.

If you have documents you want to share then you can do so. You can control who has access to move the mouse on the computer screen and who can type what on the screen. You can also see which employees came to the meeting and at what time.

Web conference companies usually give you an on-going account that will give you a set phone number for dialing and a set code. This means that employees and clients don’t have to worry about confusing numbers that continue to change every time you have a new meeting. You can keep the same number every time.

Internet web conferencing is an excellent way to communicate with your employees when they are spread out across the world and you need to keep people updated. With the constant technological advances like better video compression and higher bandwith capabilites, the future of video web conferencing is very bright.

Can Online Bingo Compete With The Bingo Halls?

Posted by samsol in February 25th 2008

While we have seen a major increase in the number of people who are playing Bingo, almost all of the increase has come from the Online Bingo sector – the Internet.  So can playing online really compete with the atmosphere and tension of playing in a Bingo hall?

The first thing to realise is that online Bingo is not set to compete with the more traditional Bingo halls as it is a totally different experience.  Online Bingo is attracting a new type of Bingo player, those who prefer to play from the comfort of their own homes at any time of the day and night which they choose.  These are players who are not necessarily interested in the atmosphere of the Bingo halls, they just like the thrill of playing and the potential to win what are now fairly large online jackpots.

The Bingo hall was as much a social group as it was a place to win big prizes, with many of the older players using “Bingo Night” as a way to get out of their homes for a while and have some fun and laughs.  That is not to say that competition was not high in the old Bingo halls because it was, possibly even more competitive than today’s new breed of online players, but the chance to meet friends and catch up was often as much a reason to go as playing the game.

Thankfully, the emergence of online Bingo has seen an increase in the attendance figures for Bingo halls and while it has come too late for many traditional Bingo halls, it has helped to save some.

    Touch Screens Come of Age

Posted by samsol in February 22nd 2008

While they have supposedly been on the verge of the mass market for many years, it is only just the last couple of years that we have seen the Touch Screen industry really come of age.  The industry is now a major part of the humble computer, personal organisers, mobile phones and an array of call centre communication systems.  The touch screen systems of today are every much in the mass market and there to stay.  So how do they actually work?

The Touch Screen of today works via the use of Transponders (a short version of Transmitter and Responder).  In simple terms these are the main components of the Touch Screen systems and they are programmed to respond to a certain action, e.g. if a certain area of the screen is touched, them this will ensure that the component responds to the main computer, prompting an action to be taken.  By adding an array of transponders to the system it is possible to control the overall function of any system just by touch screen alone.

However, it is not just the Touch Screen industry where Transponders are vital, as they have been present in the following areas of industry for years, satellite TV, aviation, travel, marine, roads, motorsport, under water technology and the humble gate locking system.  Anything where an automated action is required after a pre-agreed signal, you will see a Transponder.

Why has the computing industry gone touch screen?

In business, never more so than today, the requirement for speed and efficiency is ever more vital in the continuous need to reduce costs.  The lower you can reduce your operational costs, the wear and tear of your systems and the time taken to answer a query, the more profitable you business will be.  While touch screens are just a small part of the overall picture they are becoming ever more vital.

    What about new uses?

While it is taking some while to get through to the masses, the touch screen mobile phone is making large inroads into the mobile handset industry.  More and more people are realising that the old unreliable Touch Screen systems of years gone by have been replaced by a new breed which has longevity and reliability not seen before.

The mobile phone industry in particular has used this new technology to eliminate keypads, thereby leaving more space to add additional functions and larger screens.  There is no other mass market industry where surface space if so valuable – so transponders and touch screen technology has been very much welcomed with open arms!

    Computing Comes Of Age

Posted by samsol in February 22nd 2008

Ever since the first computer was created the industry has moved at lightening quick pace, bringing together personal computers and industrial computers. They each have very different operations to carry out but they are very similar in their makeup.

Industrial computing through the ages has been something which many of us have not fully recognised, or even noticed that it was happening. Everyday jobs and tasks have been taken on by a mass of computer systems which control everything from out alarm clock in the morning, to the barrier at the car park, right through to the traffic lights which block our way to work!

A major component of the industrial computing industry has been the Embedded Computer, the one function system which is often tagged alongside a more general computer system. When you consider that these embedded computers are present in your MP3 player and the traffic lights which you see everywhere, it might slowly start to dawn on how much we actually depend upon all computers, never mind just embedded computing power.

So why are some operations embedded?

The general computing systems of today are very powerful and can carry out a whole host of tasks in a split second. However, the more complicated and the more tasks which these systems are asked to carry out in a short space of time, the more chance of faults or failures. By embedding a particular circuit board or micro-chip computer system it is possible to reduce the chance of failure, and greatly increase the reliability of systems. When you consider that there are a whole host of embedded systems controlling our UK wide nuclear power program, it may begin to hit home how important that they can be – and one embedded component per operation can add up to a lot of embedded computing power!

As the world of computing continues to go from strength to strength there is a need to balance this new technology with good old fashioned reliability. A new system might be the best in the world, but if it only works 50% of the time then it is no good to anyone – hence the need for a balance. We seem to see the technology sector moving in phases, whereby new technology is developed and then slowly but surely the reliability and safety aspects catch up, prior to mass market release – although is it not always that simple!

Quite which direct the traditional computer and embedded computer markets will take in the future remains to be seen, and it would take a brave person to even hazard a guess!
